Muhammad Danish Hakimi enrolled in VETA College’s Arc Welding programme in August 2019 — one of 18 months that would change the direction of his life. What started as technical training on the workshop floor eventually led him halfway around the world.

Today, Danish works as a professional Welder at Saipem GPS in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s leading energy engineering companies. It’s a career milestone that many aspire to — and one that Danish built through discipline, continuous learning, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

His advice for anyone looking to follow a similar path: invest in industry-relevant certifications, sharpen your English communication skills, and never underestimate the power of a well-crafted resume. The opportunities are out there — you just have to cast a wide net.

“First, attend courses related to oil and gas because most companies in that sector require specific certifications. Learn to speak English — even basic is enough. Work hard, because Malaysians are known for their dedication. And your resume doesn’t have to look impressive — it just needs to be detailed. Send it to as many companies as possible. You never know which door will open.”
